Six Must-Have Apps for Dog Owners

Looking for the best way to keep up with your dog? There's an app for that! Here's a quick look at our favorite dog-related apps, for everything from managing medical records to booking hotels and puppy playdates!

BringFido

A must-have for dogs on the go, BringFido is a fantastic resource for finding dog-friendly accommodations. Whether you're traveling or just planning a day out with your dog, you can find hotels, restaurants, stores, and events to bring your pup along! Just moved and need to find a new vet or groomer? BringFido can help you there, too! It also lets you read and post reviews from other dog lovers so you can be sure you're getting the best info.

BarkHappy

Is your dog barking for a busier social calendar? Maybe your friends' dogs are too big or too small for them to play with, or maybe your older dog refuses to interact with your new puppy. With BarkHappy, you can find dogs in your area who could also use a new playmate! You can filter by size, personality, and schedule playdates right in the app. BarkHappy also features dog-friendly events and lost & found alerts!

Pet First Aid

Pet First Aid is a more practical app, but you'll want it handy in an emergency! Developed by the Red Cross, it includes instructions on handling emergencies yourself as well as a hospital locator. You can also program your vet's information directly into the app for easy access- no need to waste time searching Google when you need it!

Note that this app is not meant to replace veterinary care- if something happens to your pup, get her checked out as soon as possible!

Pawprint

Speaking of health and safety, Pawprint is our favorite way to manage our dogs' medical records! It lets you keep track of which vaccines are due when, set reminders for medication, and update weight and feeding instructions for multiple pets! Pawprint is especially great if you see multiple vets or have friends petsit for you, since you can add multiple people to your dog's profile!

Fitbark

Unlike the other apps listed here, Fitbark relies on an activity monitor that has to be purchased separately. But if you're looking to improve your dog's overall health, there's no better tool! Monitor your pet's activity levels, sleep quality, and more with the easy-to-use interface. It even links to your own FitBit or Apple Watch so you and your pup can meet your step goals together!

(Lucky Dog isn't affiliated with FitBark, but Katie owns one and swears by it. Ask to see Jay's the next time you see her!)

Sniffspot

Like AirBnB for dogs, Sniffspot is a great way to find new places for your dog to exercise! Sniffspot is perfect for people who live in apartments, have reactive dogs, or just want to give their dog a change of scenery. Sniffspot is also nationwide, so it's a fantastic resource for roadtrips- stop along the way and stretch your legs without worrying about your dog getting loose!
