Rally & Obedience

Rally-O

Looking for a fun way to build more focus with your dog? Whether you’re preparing to take a Canine Good Citizen test, Therapy Test or venturing into the world of dog sports, Rally helps you build a great foundation with your dog and can help you in many other teamwork events. AKC Rally® is a companion sport to AKC Obedience. This dog sport requires teamwork between dog and handler along with performance skills similar to obedience. Rally provides an excellent introduction to AKC events for new dogs and handlers, and can provide a challenging opportunity for competitors in other events to strengthen their skills. You can learn more about Rally and how it works here.

Lucky Dog’s Rally classes refine your dog’s basic manners and have real life applications, in addition to preparing you to enter AKC Rally-O and Cynosport trials.  We use positive training techniques in a fun and supportive environment.

We’ll work on formal heeling and make our way through the signs you may see in AKC Novice and WCRL Level 1. We’ll also begin putting the signs together into short courses to prepare you for your first trial!

Obedience

While the name sounds similar to learning basic manners, training for competitive obedience prepares your dog to execute precise maneuvers in a trial situation. Your dog will learn the essentials of sit, down, and recall, but also more advanced cues like standing for exam, group sit-stays, and competition heeling. This sport is mentally demanding and helps strengthen your dog’s focus and engagement.
